The staff at Donard N.S. recognises that transitioning from pre-school to primary school is a huge milestone in a child’s life. This major transition for young children is a shared responsibility between children, families, communities, pre-schools and primary schools. The teaching staff have compiled a very short list of some key-areas that will benefit your child when starting primary school.
Here are some of the things you can help your child with before entering primary school:
- Putting on his/her coat!
- Using a zipper.
- Recognising his/her written name
- Crayon grip while colouring
- Cutting out ( Scrap Book for cuttings)
- Eye Contact!
- Shared reading: N.B.
